Interface Excellence
Because the xCAT was going to be used during surgeries with doctors fully gowned and gloved with a bagged mouse, the interface had to be easy for them to use in the middle of surgery or in a critical care application. Insight designed features such as high-contrast visual language and maximized navigation elements. A circular navigation wheel gave the xCAT a breakthrough interface scheme by allowing only one layer of frequent and critical task navigation without a traditional tab based menu structure. This allowed the interface to have a distinctive look and feel as well as support the newly established overall visual brand language developed for the rest of the system.
