HealthTECH Startup Competition 2016

Insight Product Development and MATTER hosted the 4th annual HealthTECH Startup Competition last week.  This very well attended event brought together some of the top representatives of the booming Midwestern startup ecosystem, including investors, academia, government, and Fortune 500 medical companies. The event showcased ten top healthcare startup companies from the Midwest and beyond who were down-selected from over seventy-five applicants. The finalists were selected by a group of expert judges representing industry, startups, and the financial sectors.

Live Pitch HealthTECH Startup Competition 2016Each team presented a five-minute elevator pitch to compete for cash and in-kind services. The judges awarded a $20,500 first prize, $10,500 second, and the third place winner earned $4,000. The winners also received 6 months free membership at MATTER. The event was complemented by excellent food and drink as well as networking and an exhibition of the ten startup competitors. According to Steve McPhilliamy, the executive director of Insight Accelerator Labs, “This event gets stronger and stronger  each year; it is amazing to see so many talented people come together for what is always an entertaining and exciting night.”
