Thanks to all that helped us celebrate the HealthTECH Startup Competition‘s seventh anniversary!

Sponsored by Insight Innovation Center – Chicago, MATTER and iBIO, this annual event once again brought together a great mix of key healthcare industry and community stakeholders.

Each year we host this event, we aim to:

  • Improve lives by bringing innovative health solutions to patients
  • Encourage entrepreneurship in the healthcare industry
  • Grow the medical innovation ecosystem
  • Connect investors and corporations with early-stage companies

And while the goals of the competition have not changed, it’s reach and diversity within healthcare innovation have.

As the health tech ecosystem continues to grow in the Midwest, support from local medical and pharma companies has lead to increased activity for new technology solutions. Insight has seen the trend in interest and technology investigation grow from year to year in the startup space. This was made evident with this year’s increase in applications from all across the country and even Euorope, as well as an uptick in mobile health and connected device focused startups.

“ It is great to see talented, driven, smart people pulled into the healthcare innovation ecosystem that can benefit so many lives beyond social media platforms. These startups are truly affecting outcomes and have the potential to help so many people. “ – Steve McPhilliamy, Executive Director of Insight Accelerator Labs.

We were happy to include a fourth winning category again this year, the people’s choice award, collecting the audience’s pick through Twitter.

Our judges did a great job of selecting the 10 finalists from such a large, diverse, and impressive pool of applicants. Speaking of finalists…
