Designing for Movement
Xoran Technologies, the company that pioneered miniaturization of CT technology, asked Insight to help them design a revolutionary CT scanner. They wanted a scanner that would be small and mobile enough to navigate the OR and the ICU, yet robust enough to handle the inherent abuse typical in a hospital. At about 1/10 the size and weight of a typical CT scanner, this was the first time that a technology like this would be used in the OR for real time intraoperative scanning and in the ICU to help avoid the trauma often encountered when transporting critical patients to radiology.
